Awareness Through Movement® classes are a low cost way to enjoy the Method. People of all levels of physical fitness can do them. It is challenging at times but not strenuous, in fact one is encouraged not to force anything, the motto being “less pain, more gain”.
Often we are experts already, at pushing or finding pain. Our goal during a lesson is to find a different way. In an ATM class you are encouraged to listen to “how you move” in order to find new ways of moving that are easier and different than you might normally move, yet always within comfort and with an attitude of curiosity.
If something is uncomfortable, then one can even imagine the movement, a trick musicians and athletes often do to improve their own performances. |
